Legal Protections

Choosing a final resting place involves both care and consideration.

At Life Forest, legal protection and long-term stewardship are fundamental to how we serve families.

Each Life Forest location operates as a legally recognized cemetery, and all burials are established, documented, and protected under cemetery law. This legal framework ensures clarity, permanence, and accountability for families now and in the future.

Certificate of Interment Rights

Each burial at Life Forest includes a Certificate of Interment Rights issued to the family.

This certificate documents the legal right of interment and serves as a permanent record associated with the burial location. It includes the exact GPS coordinates of the interment. Life Forest Burial Plot Data is legally recorded with the appropriate Registry of Deeds. All names of those buried as well as interment rights are recorded and protected here.

This documentation provides families with confidence and peace of mind, knowing that burial records are formally recognized and preserved.

Permanent GPS Mapping

Life Forest burial locations are documented using precise latitude and longitude GPS coordinates.

These coordinates provide an exact, real-world reference point that does not change over time. GPS mapping ensures accuracy and consistency beyond traditional hand-drawn maps or plot numbering systems and allows burial locations to be reliably identified for generations.

Long-Term Land Stewardship

Life Forest burial grounds are thoughtfully managed as protected natural landscapes. Land use is designated for cemetery and conservation purposes, supporting long-term preservation and respectful care.

As a non-profit organization, Life Forest is guided by stewardship rather than development. This commitment is reflected in how the land is managed, documented, and protected.

Recordkeeping and Transparency

Life Forest maintains detailed burial records to support transparency and accountability. Families have access to clear information regarding burial documentation, interment rights, and location records.

Burials are also recorded with public memorial resources, such as Find a Grave, to support family members and future generations seeking information.

Peace of Mind for the Future

Clear documentation, permanent records, and legally recognized interment rights help ensure that burial locations are preserved and respected over time. These protections are an essential part of Life Forest’s commitment to providing a thoughtful, enduring place of rest.

Questions about Legal Protections

We understand that questions may arise around burial documentation, cemetery law, and long-term care. Our team is available to provide clear explanations and support as you explore your options.

Life Forest: Where Innovation Meets Permanence

When Life Forest opened in 2019, we didn’t follow the existing model for conservation cremation tree burial — because it didn’t exist. Life Forest created it.

We pioneered GPS coordinate plotting of every burial plot, recorded directly on the land deed. Today, we still stand as the only cemetery that protects families in that regard, ensuring they have access rights to space for themselves and their beneficiaries.

We introduced QR codes on memorial markers, connecting visitors to the stories and causes of the people remembered there. And we were the first to record pets as named individuals on the deed alongside their human companions.

These weren’t marketing decisions. They were answers to a simple question: what would actually protect families?

Every practice we developed starts from that place. The result is a burial experience grounded in legal certainty, personal meaning, and lasting care — for generations.
