Burial Arrangements

When You're Facing Decisions After a Loss

You may be figuring this out as you go, unsure of what to do or where to begin.

There are a few practical steps to take, but you don’t have to sort through them on your own. Whether your loved one’s remains are with you or being held by a funeral home, the next step is choosing where and how they will be interred. Life Forest can help you understand the options available and guide you through each part of that process.

What to Do First

If cremation has already taken place, you may have your loved one’s remains in your care or held by a funeral home. From here, you can begin to consider burial options and location.

If cremation has not yet taken place, a funeral home or crematory can assist you with that process before coordinating burial at Life Forest.

Burial at Life Forest

Life Forest provides burial plots for cremated and composted remains within legally recognized conservation cemeteries. All burials are recorded, mapped, and protected.

Depending on the location, burial options may include:

• Memorial Tree Burial
• Woodland Trail Burial
• Single Burial

Locations

Life Forest cemetery locations are situated within protected conservation land and are available in select regions. Availability of burial options varies by location.

We can help you determine the nearest location and what options are available there.

If You Are Not Local

If you love the idea of a Life Forest burial, but are not located near a Life Forest site, we can help coordinate the respectful transfer and burial of your loved one’s ashes through our Steward Program.

Timing and Coordination

There is no required timeline for burial. Some families move forward right away, while others take time before making a decision. We will guide you through selecting a location, choosing a burial option, and coordinating timing based on what works best for you. Just reach out when you’re ready to start the process.

Visiting and Remembrance

Life Forest cemeteries are designed to be visited.

Burial locations are recorded so they can be easily located and shared with others, allowing families to return and spend time in a protected natural setting.
